Birthdays & Anniversaries makes important team moments visible on modern SharePoint pages: today's and upcoming birthdays, work anniversaries, and colleagues who recently joined or are about to start — in card or timeline view.
Birthdays come from either the Microsoft 365 profile or a centrally managed Microsoft Entra ID extension attribute. Work anniversaries and new joiners are calculated from employeeHireDate; the extension-attribute mode is designed for larger directories.
Privacy is built in: birth years appear neither visually nor in accessible labels; explicit people, patterns, departments, guests, and disabled accounts can be excluded; and an extension attribute can act as an opt-out. Data stays in the tenant, with no external service or telemetry.

Birthdays can be read from the native Microsoft 365 profile or extensionAttribute1–15. Work anniversaries and new joiners use employeeHireDate. A SharePoint list is not included as a data source in version 1.0.0.
To avoid excessive per-user requests, native mode is capped at 500 scanned accounts. For larger directories, use a centrally managed Microsoft Entra ID extension attribute in MM-DD or YYYY-MM-DD format.
Only Microsoft Graph User.Read.All. Without admin approval, the web part shows a clear permission state; it requests no write, group, mail, calendar, presence, or calling permissions.
Birth years are never shown or copied into accessible labels. An opt-out attribute, explicit and pattern exclusions, plus filters for departments, guests, and disabled accounts are built in. There is no external service or telemetry.
